Clinical Duties
  • Prepare patients for examination (vital signs, height, weight, chief complaint, medical history).
  • Assist providers during exams and minor procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy, collect specimens (blood, urine, swabs), and label correctly.
  • Conduct point-of-care testing (blood glucose, pregnancy test, urinalysis, etc.).
  • Administer immunizations, injections, and medications as directed by the provider.
  • Document care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms (sanitizing, restocking supplies).
  • Support infection control protocols and proper use of PPE.
Administrative Duties
  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-ups.
  • Answer phones, relay messages, and manage patient inquiries.
  • Process referrals to specialists and imaging centers.
  • Maintain patient records, update demographics, and ensure accuracy.
  • Handle medical correspondence, including faxing, scanning, and emailing.
Qualifications

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Education Required HS Diploma or Equivalence
  2. License/Certification/Registration(s) Required Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program
  3. Experience/Skills Required- One (1) year previous experience in a medical setting of relevant experience required. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge of Computer Technology preferred. Successful completion of St. Barnabas Hospital orientation.
