IT SUPPORT LEAD

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Worksite: Special Operations Mission Training Center, Fort Bragg
Employment Type: Full-time
Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

Position Summary

The IT Support Lead manages the SOMTC IT Operations Branch and directs technical teams responsible for supporting military information systems. This position oversees cybersecurity, system administration, network administration, desktop support, information-system compliance, and technical support for SOMTC training operations.

The IT Support Lead is responsible for maintaining the organization’s cybersecurity program, managing cybersecurity risks and technical initiatives, and overseeing complex datacenter environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the SOMTC IT Operations Branch and associated technical-support functions.
  • Supervise technical teams responsible for military information systems.
  • Develop and maintain the organization’s cybersecurity program.
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and develop risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security controls.
  • Monitor security systems and coordinate responses to cybersecurity incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity laws, regulations, standards, policies, and DoD guidance.
  • Provide cybersecurity guidance, awareness, and training to personnel.
  • Manage cybersecurity projects and technical initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Government personnel and other stakeholders to protect information systems and data.
  • Delegate tasks, monitor team performance, and support personnel development.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance of complex datacenter environments.
  • Oversee server virtualization, network infrastructure, and storage systems.
  • Support security assessment and authorization, vulnerability management, penetration-testing methodologies, disaster recovery, and business-continuity planning.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology-related field; or
  • Associate degree in an Information Technology-related field and at least 10 years of IT Lead experience.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of four years of experience in a formal supervisory role managing technical teams responsible for military information systems.
  • Demonstrated program-management experience, including task delegation, performance tracking, and personnel development.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of complex datacenter environments.
  • Experience with server virtualization, network infrastructure, and storage systems.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Cybersecurity principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Risk-management frameworks, including the NIST Risk Management Framework.
  • Cybersecurity laws, regulations, and standards.
  • DoD cybersecurity policies and guidance.
  • Network-security architecture and technologies.
  • Security incident-response and handling procedures.
  • Vulnerability-management and penetration-testing methodologies.
  • Security assessment and authorization processes.
  • Disaster-recovery and business-continuity planning.
  • Cybersecurity awareness and training.
  • Technical project and personnel management.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

Certification Requirements

  • Current certification meeting the requirements for the DCWF Information Systems Security Manager, Work Role 722, at the Intermediate or Advanced proficiency level.
  • Acceptable certifications include CISSP, CISM, or an equivalent qualifying certification.
  • Must complete at least 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development annually, or the amount required to maintain the applicable certification, whichever is greater.

Work Environment and Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed on-site in Government-controlled facilities.
  • Must comply with applicable DoD, Army, USSOCOM, USASOC, installation, cybersecurity, personnel-security, CAC, and information-system access requirements.
  • Mission requirements may require work beyond normal operating hours, occasional weekend support, surge support, or support for simultaneous events.
  • Telework requires prior Government approval.
  • Classified work is not normally authorized from an alternate worksite.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support mission activities.
