We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with 7+ years designing electrical systems for commercial building projects (commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, hospitality, mixed-use, industrial). PE license strongly preferred; EIT with progressive design experience considered. Will independently lead design from concept through construction administration, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple projects. Responsibilities:
- Design power distribution (utility coordination, transformers, switchgear, panelboards, feeders), lighting/controls, fire alarm, emergency/standby power, UPS, and low-voltage systems
- Prepare construction documents: plans, specs, single-lines, panel schedules, equipment layouts
- Perform load calcs, voltage drop, fault current, and equipment sizing
- Coordinate with architectural/structural/mechanical/plumbing/fire protection teams
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, change orders; conduct site visits and construction observation
- Ensure NEC, NFPA, CEC, and local code compliance
- Mentor junior engineers; manage budgets/schedules; support client meetings and proposals
- BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years commercial electrical design experience
- PE preferred; EIT with path to PE considered
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, lighting, emergency/standby power, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, and coordination studies
- Thorough knowledge of NEC, NFPA, CEC, Title 24, and local codes
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
- CA PE license (or reciprocity eligibility)
- Experience with healthcare, lab, mission-critical, life sciences, higher ed, or mixed-use projects
- LEED AP or sustainable design experience
- Multidisciplinary team leadership
- Short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies (ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower)
