CNC Structural Steel Equipment Operator

Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: Up to $27.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Position Overview

We are hiring a CNC Structural Steel Equipment Operator to support the production of fabricated steel components in a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for operating CNC processing equipment, preparing materials for production, verifying quality requirements, and safely handling structural steel throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate has experience working with structural steel processing equipment, overhead cranes, and fabrication drawings in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC equipment used to cut, drill, saw, or process structural steel components.
  • Select the appropriate machine settings based on material type, thickness, and production requirements.
  • Verify material type, dimensions, and stock sizes before processing begins.
  • Measure finished materials to confirm compliance with production specifications and quality standards.
  • Mark completed parts with required identification and production information.
  • Safely move structural steel using overhead cranes and material transfer or conveyor systems.
  • Record production activity and maintain accurate material usage documentation.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area while following company safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC plasma tables or CNC sawing, drilling, or cutting equipment.
  • Experience with one or more of the following machines:
    • Kinetic Plasma Table
    • Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Line
    • Peddinghaus Angle Master
    • Ficep Beamline
    • Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and material transfer or conveyor systems.
    • Experience marking fabricated parts with production information.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
    • Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods during the workday.
    • Comfortable working in both hot and cold industrial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, symbols, and production notes.
  • Experience using Tekla PowerFab.
  • Previous experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
