DEFINITION OF RESPONSIBILITY

Under general supervision, administers the fleet of mobile devices and provides technical support in the development, deployment, maintenance, and enhancements of devices and management tools. 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversee the government’s mobile phone account and serves as a liaison between Verizon and other agencies. This includes starting and terminating phone lines, drafting quotes, authorizing phone purchases, improving account processes, and Verizon account administration.

  • Serve as resource for billing and account inquiries.  

  • Maintain an inventory and two-year refresh plan of all mobile devices. 

  • Order and house an inventory of new stock for refresh and emergency replacements. 

  • Deploy cell phones to customers according to the refresh plan. Decommission old phones following best practices to ensure data is securely destroyed. 

  • Administer the Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution in place for mobile devices. This includes enrolling and removing devices, building and applying configuration profiles, and researching and implementing enhancements or new solutions.

  • Troubleshoot advanced software and mechanical issues with phones and tablets. Provide analysis and solutions for common and trending issues. 

  • Research future mobile technology and provide recommendation for device and accessory purchases. Provide guidance for application purchases and support. Devices will need to service a multitude of use case scenarios.   

  • Protect county data and follow suggested practices for device encryption, loss prevention, stolen devices, and device disposal. 

  • Develop and maintain documentation on departmental process, instructional guides, and communication. Keep a central repository of information that will need to be shared internally and externally.  

  • Performs other duties as required

Education, Training, and Experience

Education: Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of two (2) years of technical and troubleshooting experience.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Information Technology or related field plus two (2) years of experience that includes equipment deployment. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Entry-level)

  • Knowledge of Mobile Device Management with Microsoft Intune 

  • Skill in technical troubleshooting and effective communication 

  • Ability to work as a team, work with vendors outside of the organization, and collaborate with other departments.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes. Supplemental information

Work an average scheduled workweek of 34 hours, Monday through Friday. May occasionally require additional hours, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays. A 24 x 7 on-call rotation is required for production/technical problems.

Travel within Baltimore County, and outside of the County for work and training. May be required to use their own vehicle to respond to remote sites for troubleshooting and repair work.  

Carry a County-issued smartphone.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

The work of this position is essentially sedentary and includes the operation of computers and office equipment.
