Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.Pay will be determined based on the location of the selected candidate.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Develop, operate, and refine quantitative economic and revenue models that produce Alaska’s official non-petroleum revenue forecast by building defensible forecasting tools for corporate income tax (petroleum and non-petroleum) and statewide taxes such as motor fuel, tobacco, fisheries, estate, and mining license taxes, while working extensively with statistical and spreadsheet software, collaborating with internal experts, validating assumptions, and delivering accurate, high-visibility analytical work that informs statewide fiscal decisions.
- Evaluate the economic impacts of policies, projects, and statewide trends by using REMI or similar macroeconomic modeling software, preparing and structuring large datasets, designing modeling methodologies, interpreting model outputs, and producing clear, defensible analytical products used by agencies, legislators, and executive leadership.
- Design and execute economic research projects that require innovation, application of economic theory, and skilled interpretation of imperfect or complex datasets by producing high-quality white papers, technical memoranda, executive briefings, tables, charts, and presentations that clearly communicate economic findings and revenue trends to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop or assist in developing fiscal impact estimates and fiscal notes for proposed legislation affecting non-oil revenues by evaluating statutory changes, analyzing tax policy impacts, summarizing revenue implications, and responding to legislative inquiries or participating in hearings as needed.
- Specialize in non-petroleum revenue analysis by developing expertise in taxes, fees, and other non-oil revenue streams while contributing to petroleum-related analysis as needed based on statewide priorities, legislative requests, and project assignments.
- We have a strong preference for candidates with demonstrated quantitative aptitude and experience working with large datasets and complex economic models, who consistently produce accurate, error-free analytical work under tight deadlines and can independently manage both short-turnaround tasks and long-term projects; familiarity with oil and gas operations, petroleum economics, or tax policy is highly valued and enhances the precision and effectiveness of non-petroleum revenue analysis.

BACKGROUND CHECK
The Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) is utilized in this position. A background check and fingerprinting will be required. The incumbent will be required to obtain APSIN access, which will be done through the office.
