The Prince William County Police Department is offering creative, challenging, and rewarding work as a Business Services Analyst (Payroll & Telestaff Administrator) within the Compensation & Benefits Unit.
The Prince William County Police Department’s Compensation & Benefits Unit is responsible for the pay and benefits of over 900 Police employees, as well as policy development and system integration.
About This Role:
The Business Services Analyst (Payroll & TeleStaff Administrator) is responsible for assisting in overseeing payroll processes and maintaining the functionality and integrity of the UKG TeleStaff Cloud automated timekeeping system, ensuring compliance with County and Department policies and procedures. This role includes but is not limited to auditing timekeeping records, reviewing data for accuracy, processing payroll exceptions, and resolving employee payroll-related inquiries while providing incredible customer service. The TeleStaff Administrator uses multiple SQL dialects to collect, analyze, and present data through paginated reports and dashboards through SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI to support unit operations and departmental operational decisions. Additional responsibilities include: maintaining the integrity of HR and departmental systems such as Mobius Workforce; using systems such as BlueTeam Correspondence, and IAPro; facilitating payroll preparation in UKG TeleStaff Cloud and process through the Mobius payroll module; assisting with the development, implementation, and communication of payroll, timekeeping, and benefit-related policies and procedures; providing clear written and verbal communication regarding those changes to department members; as well as performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and four (4) or more years of related experience in payroll preparation and processing, HR policy development and implementation, and SQL coding using SQL Server Management Studio.
Preferences:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience using and maintaining UKG Telestaff scheduling/payroll systems for a large department/organization and maintenance of system.
- Experience writing and optimizing queries in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and GoogleSQL (BigQuery).
- Experience using Power BI to utilize Google Big Query Connections to outside databases as well as create dashboards displaying analyzed data to command staff.
- Experience with SQL Server Management Studio as well as SQL Server Reporting Services.
- 5 years or more experience with processing and reconciling payroll.
- Working knowledge of Prince William County payroll practices and policies for full and part-time employees.
- Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel experience.
Special Requirements:
May be required to pass a criminal background check.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Operating hours are Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm (37.5 hours per week). The actual schedule will be determined between the candidate and supervisor. Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends if emergency situations arise.
Starting Salary Range:
$78,971.59 -$92,907.75
