Fire Protection Officer - 2nd Shift

Function/Program:   Fire Protection

This position is a standard Fire fighter position. They respond to all hazards utilizing specialized equipment and PPE to mitigate emergencies as they unfold. These individuals conduct fire prevention activities to include fire inspections.

Job Description:

·         Respond to all emergencies IAW organizational policies and procedures.

·         Operate various emergency equipment required by the Scope of Practice.

·         Inspect all emergency equipment, apparatuses, and personal protective equipment IAW organizational policies, procedures, and manufacturers recommendations.

·         Conduct inspections IAW FM Global and organizational policies and procedures.

·         Conduct inspections of fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, and associated fire protections systems IAW organizational policies and procedures.

·         Assist with Public Fire Prevention and Education Programs to include but not limited to: Fire extinguisher training and fire drills.

·         Participate in required training programs to meet the above certification standards. This may include specialized training for equipment purchased to perform required duties.

·         Maintain all professional certifications.

·         Ensures all reports, documents and records are completed IAW organizational policies and procedures.

·         Properly plan, respond, mitigate and recover from multiple types of emergency situations as outlined by the Scope of Services.

·         Properly inspect, maintain, and operate all provided emergency equipment IAW organizational policies, procedures, and manufacturers recommendations.

·         Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

Required Skills & Certifications:

·         High School Diploma or equivalent

·         Structural Fire Fighter 1

·         Structural Fire Fighter 2

o   Hazardous Materials Awareness

o   Hazardous Materials Operations

·         Texas Department of State and Health Services and/or National Registry EMT-Basic

Required Skills & Certifications within the first 120 days of hire date:

** Successful candidates will be expected to obtain the certifications within the first 120 days of hire with the support and resources provided by the Company.

·         Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF)

·         First Aid, AED Certification, and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation

·         Courage to Be Safe Certification

·         Class B Exempt Driver’s License

·         National Incident Management Systems: ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800

Preferred/Not Required Skills & Certifications:

·         Hazardous Materials Technician

·         Pumper Driver Operator

·         ARFF Driver Operator

·         Fire Officer 1

·         Fire Service Instructor 1

·         Fire Service Inspector 1

·         Hazardous Materials Incident Commander

·         EMT-Paramedic

·         National Incident Management Systems: ICS 300 and 400

·         Associate’s degree in a related field

Compliance Requirements & Risks:

Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) requires all firefighters working in the State to be certified to the minimum of following standards:

·         NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications

·         NFPA 1003, Standard for Airport Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications

·         NFPA 1072, Standard for Hazardous Material/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications

·         TDSHS or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Certification

·         OHSA 1910.120 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response. Requires the use of the Incident Command System to be established for all incidents involving a hazardous material.
