Hynds Group

Who We Are
Founded in 1973, Hynds is New Zealand's premier supplier for the management of water and water-based waste across the civil and rural infrastructure markets. Proudly family-owned, we've built our reputation on customer service and innovation — and on a culture where people matter, we do what's right, and we connect with our customers.

About the Role
As an Autocast Production Technician/Operator, you'll play a hands-on role in our precast production team, helping us hit the planned outputs and production schedule while keeping safety and team morale front and centre. You'll work closely with the Autocast control console alongside the full range of production tasks — so no two days look the same, and you'll build a broad, transferable skill set across the site.

What you'll be doing

  • Operating the Autocast control console as part of the mould set-up and casting process
  • Mould set-up, mould assembly, reinforcement assembly, casting, concrete pouring, formwork stripping, cleaning, and finishing work
  • Dismantling forms after the concrete has cured, stripping and marking product to drawing
  • Operating power tools and forklifts, tying and rolling wire, and pouring concrete
  • Tending the portable concrete-mixing machine and hand-casting structural concrete products
  • Keeping the production schedule on track and helping the team hit the plan
  • Using quality control sheets and acting quickly on any non-conformances

What we're offering

  • Stable, full-time hours on a consistent night shift (4:00pm–12:00am)
  • Genuine opportunities to build skills and grow within the business
  • A team that looks out for each other and takes safety seriously
  • The backing of a company that's been part of NZ's infrastructure since 1973

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience with precast concrete products is an advantage — but we're also open to strong hands-on, physical-work backgrounds
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting plans and drawings, or willing to learn
  • Confident making decisions and following through on them
  • F endorsement is desirable (or willing to work towards one)
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg as part of manual handling
  • A practical understanding of workshop health and safety standards

Benefits

  • Health insurance (subject to eligibility criteria)
  • Access to company partner discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme

At Hynds, we believe diverse teams make better decisions and stronger businesses. We're committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is welcomed, supported, and encouraged to thrive. If you meet most of the criteria and are excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to apply — even if you don't tick every box.
