DUTIES:
B Repairman engages in all aspects of major/minor inspections, as well as preventative and corrective maintenance on the light rail vehicle and all its sub-components.  Duties include making repairs to main/auxiliary propulsion and associated systems; couplers; brake system; air compressor; door controls; heating, ventilating and cooling systems; traction motors; rewiring and overhauling of electrical system.  Other duties include preparing car bodies prior to painting, minor reconditioning, including small damage jobs and work of a similar nature.  Employee engages in basic system level trouble shooting and in operation of various machines associated with motor refurbishing, such as oven, portable steam cleaners, and sandblaster.  In addition, employee must be able to understand and operate special test equipment to verify vehicle schematics, mechanical and operation specifications for light rail vehicles.  Furthermore, employee must be able to 1) move vehicles in shop, yard, and car wash; 2) operate service equipment (trucks, forklifts, shop carts, 20-ton cranes, and hoists).  As well as must be able to handle situations that involve or impact revenue operations.  B Repairman must be able to perform various other duties associated with the Rail Car Maintenance Group when necessary. Examples of dutiesApplicant must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties as outline above.
