About the Role
As part of our pre-contracts team, you'll play a key role in securing major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Australia. Working closely with senior leaders, operational teams and technical specialists, you'll prepare accurate, competitive and innovative tenders that reflect BMD's delivery expertise and strong presence in the water sector.
This role is ideal for an experienced Estimator with a background in water, wastewater, treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, utilities or major infrastructure projects who enjoys working on technically complex bids and contributing to the growth of a nationally recognised contractor.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate tenders aligned with project scope, technical requirements, methodology and contractual obligations
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations and associated civil works
- Source, assess and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering initiatives within tender submissions
- Collaborate with Construction Managers, Engineers and operational teams to develop practical and competitive delivery methodologies
- Contribute to tender reviews, bid strategies, client presentations and post-tender negotiations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and key stakeholders across the water sector
About you:
You are a motivated and commercially astute Estimator with proven experience delivering successful tenders within the water or utilities sector. You understand the complexities of water infrastructure projects and can confidently develop competitive estimates while balancing risk, program requirements and client expectations.
You thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy solving complex challenges and are passionate about shaping critical infrastructure that supports growing communities.

- Proven estimating experience within a civil construction, utilities or water infrastructure contractor environment
- Knowledge of tender preparation, cost build-up, and subcontractor engagement
- Strong commercial acumen and communication skills
- A team-first mindset and commitment to quality and accuracy
