Our DataPath Engineering team builds the high-performance storage software stack at the heart of Dell’s primary storage platforms - much of it built on and contributed back to open source, including the Storage Performance Development Kit (SPDK).
Join us as a Software Principal Engineer on our engineering team in Israel to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact.
We work in an AI-native development environment - applying spec-driven development (SDD) and clear engineering governance to deliver complex software with both speed and without sacrificing quality.

Key Responsibilities
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design, develop, and own complex software features - from requirements and design through implementation, testing, and long-term support.

  • Build high-performance datapath software on SPDK, integrating emerging drive, enclosure, and protocol technologies.

  • Own performance analysis of the storage software data path - including queueing behavior, CPU efficiency, memory usage, PCIe bottlenecks, and latency behavior.

  • Work closely with architecture, hardware, and software teams on HW/SW interface definition.

  • Experiment with and integrate emerging AI tools into the development workflow to boost productivity and innovation.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant BSc with exceptional marks from a top university.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with one or more of: storage, device drivers, embedded software/firmware, Linux, networking, including a proven track record of contributing to open-source projects and engaging with upstream communities.

  • Expert-level coding skills in C/C++.

  • Experience and understanding of Linux internals including algorithms, data structures, multithreading concepts, object synchronization and communication protocols.

  • Comfort working in an AI-native development environment - spec-driven development (SDD), AI-assisted workflows, and engineering governance.

Desirable Requirements

  • Deep experience with NVMe-oF, storage networking, or low-latency distributed systems, including hands-on familiarity with NVMe SSD internals and an understanding of how device-level features impact host-side performance.

  • Working knowledge of storage and networking protocols and related high-performance transports (RDMA/RoCE), along with experience using Python for infrastructure tooling, test automation, and scripting.
