Wood is looking for Expression of Interest applications for an Electrical Construction Engineer to support the delivery of a major heavy industrial project in South Wales, UK. This is a contract role for 3 months with the possibility of extension to 12 months and will be based full time onsite. Please note this is not currently a live position.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an individual with a proven track record delivering electrical construction works on complex projects within heavy industry, petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation, energy, process, steel, chemical, or manufacturing environments.

The successful candidate will possess strong experience in construction execution, constructability, and site delivery, with the ability to coordinate activities across engineering, construction, commissioning, client and vendor teams. You will play a key role in ensuring electrical works are planned, coordinated and executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.

  • Provide detailed review and analysis of the Path of Construction, review the schedule sequencing and logic for the electrical scope of works across the entire project
  • Develop and lead constructability reviews, identifying execution risks and opportunities to improve project delivery
  • Review engineering deliverables, drawings and specifications to ensure they are suitable for safe and efficient construction
  • Support development of construction methodologies, execution plans and work packages
  • Interface with client, contractor and OEM vendor representatives on technical and construction-related issues
  • Support the development and monitoring of construction schedules in collaboration with planning and project controls teams
  • Oversight of the installation of electrical systems including power distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, cable containment and associated equipment
  • Support development of construction, commissioning, and completion activities
  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance
  • Provide technical guidance and field support to construction teams during project execution where required

Expected:

  • Significant experience delivering electrical construction projects within heavy industrial sectors such as petrochemical, refinery, chemical, oil & gas, power generation, steel, manufacturing, energy or process industries
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems and industrial electrical installations
  • Demonstrable experience in construction execution, field engineering, construction management or site-based project delivery roles
  • Familiar with PAUs / PARs including modular build strategies and methodologies  
  • Proven ability to undertake constructability reviews and develop practical construction solutions
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 planning and construction scheduling principles
  • Experience working within brownfield and operational plant environments
  • Strong client-facing skills with experience managing contractor and OEM vendor relationships
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documentation
  • Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills
  • Commitment to safe delivery and operational excellence

Desirable:

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP)
  • Experience with completions and turnover systems
  • NEBOSH or other recognised HSE qualification
  • Commissioning and start-up experience
