We're looking for an Accounting Manager who's ready to step out of the spreadsheet and into the driver's seat. This isn't a "keep the lights on" accounting role — you'll own the month-end close, lead a team of two Staff Accountants, and be the trusted right hand to our Assistant Controller in shaping how this company manages its money. If you love turning complex processes into clean, reliable systems — and you get a genuine kick out of a balance sheet that ties out perfectly — this is your seat.
What You'll Own- Drive the close. Lead the monthly close process, keeping the general ledger accurate and reviewing financial statements for precision and compliance — inventory, cash, accruals, prepaids, AR -- all of it.
- Lead people, not just entries. Directly manage two Staff Accountants, coaching them and building a strong, high-performing team.
- Be the reconciliation quarterback. Own the balance sheet reconciliation process end to end.
- Shape how we work. Partner with the Assistant Controller to build and refine the financial structures, systems, and controls that keep the company's assets secure and its numbers trustworthy.
- Fix what's broken. Spot inefficiencies and lead process improvements — you'll have real license to challenge the status quo.
- Be the connector. Coordinate with outside auditors, government agencies, and tax consultants, making sure they get what they need, when they need it.
- Take on the big stuff. Jump into special projects for the Assistant Controller and Controller — visibility with leadership comes standard.
- 5+ years in a Senior Accountant role, including at least 2 years in Public Accounting
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
- Active CPA preferred
- Experience with a multi-location company — retail background is a big plus
- A track record of leading or mentoring a team
- Sharp analytical instincts and a rock-solid grasp of accounting and finance fundamentals
- Comfort with high-volume cash reconciliations
- Microsoft D365 experience is a strong plus
- Flexibility that respects real life — work from home up to one day a week
- Real impact — your process improvements directly shape company performance and cost efficiency
- Room to lead — walk in managing a team and partnering directly with senior finance leadership
- A seat at the table — this role isn't buried in the back office; you'll work cross-functionally to help other teams run better
