SummaryThis is staff work performing varied assignments as an assistant to the department or agency head.
This employee is responsible for performing a wide variety of staff assignments, many of which have a significant effect upon departmental policy. Work includes analyzing administrative operations, preparing detailed and comprehensive reports, fiscal responsibilities, and other duties that pertain to the department. Β
Since all positions in this class involve a staff relationship to a department or agency head, supervision is not normally exercised over their employees.Β
Assignments are carried out with considerable initiative and independence, but work is reviewed through conferences and evaluation of results obtained.
Reporting Authority:Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts Manager
Examples of duties- Assists in developing departmental programs and policies.
- Reviews and replies to correspondence.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with other governmental agencies.
- Prepares daily deposit and performs various other fiscal and statistical responsibilities.
- Reviews information to be filed or processed for content, completeness, and correctness to determine whether it is appropriate to process or further information is required.
- Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of intermediate to complex math procedures.
- Preferred knowledge of criminal and civil procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of County and Department policies and procedures.
- Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work independently assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and assignments.
- Skill in working within deadlines to complete projects and assignments.
- Skill in assessing, analyzing, identifying and recommending solutions to problems.
- Must be able to meet and interact effectively with co-workers and the general public, and to respond accurately to routine questions/inquiries regarding department operations and procedures.
- Highschool Diploma/GED
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete Criminal History Record checks and Child Abuse Clearances.
- 1 year experience in related office / previous clerk experience
