Role Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic Associate / Associate Technical Director – Roads to join our UK GCC Highways team in India.
This is a leadership role focused on driving high-quality delivery of UK highways design projects, working closely with UK-based teams and supporting large-scale infrastructure programmes.
The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, project leadership, stakeholder management, and team development, contributing to both project execution and the growth of the Roads discipline within GCC.
 

Project & Technical Leadership
Lead the end-to-end delivery of UK highway design projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
Act as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering principles to solve complex design challenges
Drive innovation in design approaches, methodologies, and digital tools

Project Management & Delivery
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring efficient resource allocation and delivery outcomes
Ensure compliance with QA, CDM, Sustainability, and HSE standards
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and technical issues

Stakeholder & Client Engagement
Liaise with UK stakeholders, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and fee estimation
Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Team Leadership & People Management
Lead and manage a team of up to 15 engineers and designers
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and supervision to team members
Drive the professional development of early career professionals
Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and positive team culture

Operational & Strategic Contribution
Support discipline leadership in resource planning, utilisation forecasting, and performance reporting
Contribute to Lean initiatives to improve efficiency and eliminate waste
Participate in recruitment and capability building within the Roads team.

Key Competencies & Skills

Mandatory Skills

Minimum 5+ years of experience in UK highway design, including: 
Road geometry
Pavement design
Road restraint systems
Signage and road markings
Site clearance
Strong proficiency in design tools such as: 
Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MX, PDS/Keyline, AutoCAD, ProjectWise
Proven experience in: 
Team leadership and stakeholder management
Project and resource management
Delivering projects within budget and programme constraints
Ability to produce technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
Strong understanding of UK design standards and emerging industry trends
Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills

Desired Skills
Experience in financial/project cost management
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or working towards it)
Experience in Design & Build projects
Exposure to Lean principles in project delivery
Demonstrated experience working on multi-disciplinary projects
