Unclassified, at-will positions are not covered by the County of San Mateo Civil Service Rules. Ideally, the person hired for this position will work with the Supervisor throughout their tenure with the County.

The selection process for this position will consist of an application screening and an interview, which may include a writing exercise given immediately prior to the interview.  Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations, or a screening committee may select those applicants whose education and/or experience appear to best meet the needs of the position based solely on the information provided in the application documents.  

All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination.  Only the most highly qualified candidates, as determined by the initial screening process, will be invited to participate in the interview selection process.


Those selected to participate in the interview process will be notified of the date, time and place of the subsequent phases of the selection process. Interviews will be conducted in San Mateo County, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.
