JOB SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst is responsible for building, testing, implementing, and supporting the electronic health record (EHR), including release upgrades, system optimization, and process improvement activities related to business operations. This role supports new initiatives while maintaining systems to ensure regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness. The Business Analyst participates in multidisciplinary workgroups to identify and implement technical and application-based best practices that enhance healthcare operations and align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives. Working collaboratively with teams across the organization, the Business Analyst also provides hands-on training and support as needed while consistently demonstrating the F.I.R.S.T. values of Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the build and support of various modules of the EHR, including but not limited to:

  1. Admissions/Registration
  2. Billings and Accounts Receivable
  3. Physician Billing and Receivables
  4. Abstracting (Coding)
  5. General Ledger
  6. Health Information Management
  7. Materials Management

Leadership

  1. Demonstrates initiative and responsibility to develop personal, leadership, and professional goals/objectives, and determines methods to meet these goals and objectives
  2. Accepts and responds to changes while maintaining a positive attitude
  3. Displays professional Business practices and desires to expand skill set
  4. Demonstrates ability to train in many areas of operations and provide support
  5. Participates on assigned teams/committees/groups

Communication

  1. Maintains awareness of verbal / non-verbal communication in interactions with staff, other departments, vendors, and contractors
  2. Collaborates and communicates effectively and positively
  3. Demonstrates empathy and understanding in communication of issues
  4. Documents projects, functions, processes, procedures, and meetings
  5. Communicates with vendors for opening service or enhancement requests and for troubleshooting assistance

Operations

  1. Ability to analyze processes, systems, etc., and effectively plan work tasks and strategies
  2. Subject Matter Expert (SME) of applications supported
  3. Monitors applications supported for efficient use and alerts
  4. Education and Training – Provides education and training on Applications, supports, and includes properly updated education materials
  5. Demonstrates excellent time management and organizational skills
  6. Consistently performs and handles responsibilities in an independent manner (self-starter) with minimal direct supervision
  7. Prepares for current and expired/expiring regulations in healthcare operations, particularly with new advances and options available with applications supported
  8. Understands, promotes, and follows security protocols
  9. Utilizes thorough testing methods when testing functionality of software
  10. Performs all other duties/special projects as requested

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Office environment with normal levels of noise

Able to work with interruptions

Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. Independently

Travel as necessary to any location with mileage paid by the organization. 

 

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Various means of contact with associates, contracted support staff, vendors (sales & support), other healthcare organizations, etc. Contact includes, but is not limited to, phone calls, in-person or virtual meetings, e-mails, chats, fax, etc.

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Knowledge of clinical information systems. Good verbal communication skills, analytical skills, required. Personal computers (desktops, laptops, virtual desktops, tablets) and other related hardware and software. Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Experience with EHR/Practice Management data analysis etc. Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong ability to work on and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects while meeting aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to facilitate, design, and document workflow processes. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with little supervision. Application development, testing, and project implementation

Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, organizational skills, and ability to analyze business problems and opportunities. Ability to work and effectively communicate with executives, peers, and outside vendors. Excellent communication, customer service, project management, and team-building skills. Proficient in Team Collaboration tools such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office

Qualifications

3 or more years of business operations experience
