We are looking for passionate, driven and values-based Organisers who want to be part of shaping the future of one of Australia’s largest and most influential unions. Multiple roles are available in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As an Organiser, you will work alongside members to build workplace power and deliver meaningful outcomes. This role is about far more than resolving workplace issues. It is about empowering members to lead, building sustainable workplace strength and helping shape the future of our Union.
Your success will be measaured by the strength of the workplaces you help build, the leaders you develop and the confidence you inspire in workers to stand together.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
• Build strong relationships with workers.
• Organise and recruit new members to the Union.
• Identify and develop workplace delegates.
• Build active and sustainable organising structures that grow the strength and influence of UWU across your areas of responsibility.
• Develop and implement organising plans that grow membership, strengthen workplace leadership and increase member participation.
• Promote and uphold the Union’s values of equity, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of your work.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for people who are passionate about and committed to improving the lives of the members we represent.
You are someone who:
• Believes deeply in the power of collective action.
• Can build trust quickly with all workers including workers from diverse backgrounds.
• Has a genuine committment to the values and purpose of UWU.
• Enjoys working in fast-paced and changing environments.
• Has good communication skills, including the ability to motivate, develop and inspire others to take action;
• Has strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to achieve outcomes in a dynamic environment.
• Has an interest in campaigning, organising and advancing social and industrial justice.
• Shows initiative, resilience and has the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Previous experience in union organising, campaigning, community organising or advocacy will be highly regarded, but we are equally interested in people with transferable leadership skills and a passion for social justice.
To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:
• A valid driver’s licence; and
• Right of Entry Permits.
Applicants must have the legak right to work in Australia and will be required to provide evidence of their work rights as part of the recruitment process.
