About Storable
At Storable, we're redefining property management for specialty real estate. Powered by AI and three decades of industry data, Storable empowers over 33,000 self-storage facilities with the industry's only fully integrated technology platform. Our end-to-end solutions—from management software and demand generation to CRM tools and delinquency solutions—help storage operators streamline workflows, attract tenants, and grow revenue. Dedicated to empowering self-storage owners and operators, Storable helps you Win More every day. Explore our platform solutions at storable.com.

Overview
Storable's CRM team builds the multi-tenant SaaS application operators use to win and keep customers — capturing leads, handling inbound and outbound calls, sending SMS and email, managing collections, and syncing tenant, unit, and reservation data with their Facility Management Systems (FMS). Our goal is for CRM to be the communication engine operators trust, so they can focus on their customers instead of their tools.

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen, scale, and evolve this platform. You'll work across our full stack — Angular, Node.js, and a Phalcon (PHP) service layer, backed by MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and AWS — building high-throughput, integration-heavy capabilities and helping modernize the architecture toward an event-driven, microservice-based design aligned with Storable's enterprise standards and the architecture platform.

This is a hands-on role with meaningful technical ownership. You'll spend most of your time designing and shipping code and, as a full-time member of the product team, you'll share ownership of the live system — on-call, incident response, and day-to-day reliability for the operators who depend on it. You'll partner closely with Product Owners, Tech Leads, Architects, and Engineering leadership to turn product and business requirements into scalable, well-architected solutions.

This is a remote-first, US-based, full-time role. We value clear written communication, well-defined ownership, and transparent decision-making. If you enjoy solving complex systems and integration problems, care deeply about scalability and reliability, and like building software that makes operators — and the engineers around you — more effective, this role is for you.

We believe great ideas come from diverse perspectives and inclusive teams. We encourage people of all backgrounds, genders, and experiences to apply, even if you don't meet every qualification listed below.

What you'll do every day

Scope & complexity

  • Own sizable, ambiguous features and integrations end to end, breaking complex problems — such as data-synchronization or communications workflows — into clear, workable pieces.
  • Build and maintain the FMS integrations and data synchronization at the heart of the product, keeping leads, tenants, units, and reservations in sync through event-driven, API-based patterns.

Impact & ownership

  • Share ownership of the live system with your team: carry on-call, act as a directly responsible individual during incidents, and ensure issues are resolved and genuinely fixed.
  • Improve the scalability, reliability, and data correctness of high-throughput workflows (communications delivery, collections, and data sync) through evidence-based, cost-aware decisions.

Initiative & delivery

  • Break complex initiatives into clear, incremental milestones and drive them from design through implementation and rollout, surfacing and mitigating delivery risk early.
  • Improve your team's CI/CD, deployment, and environment management (for example, canary or blue–green deployments) so shipping changes is safer and faster.

Technical craft

  • Design, build, and operate features across our stack (Angular, Node.js/TypeScript, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, AWS, Phalcon/PHP), writing high-quality, well-tested, secure, production-ready code.
  • Design end-to-end observability for CRM and its integration services — metrics, logs, and traces (Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, or equivalents) — with meaningful dashboards, alerts, SLOs, and runbooks.
  • Keep the codebase healthy — refactoring, improving automated tests, and paying down technical debt — while you ship customer-facing value.
  • Use AI-assisted development (for example, code generation, test authoring, refactoring, or incident analysis) as a normal part of your workflow.

Systems thinking & architecture

  • Design and operate AWS application infrastructure — containerized and serverless (ECS Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, ElastiCache/Redis, S3, CloudFront, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, and CloudWatch) — with a focus on scalability, cost, security, and resilience.
  • Help evolve the platform toward an event-driven, microservice-based architecture — defining clear service boundaries, versioned API contracts and data models, plus idempotent, resilient event consumers with retry, dead-letter, and reconciliation handling.
  • Design CRM capabilities that integrate cleanly with Storable's architecture platform, aligning with its architectural patterns and enterprise architecture standards.

Collaboration & mentorship

  • Partner with Product Owners, Tech Leads, Architects, and Engineering leadership to translate product and business requirements into scalable, well-architected solutions.
  • Write clear technical design documents and give constructive code reviews.
  • Mentor engineers on your team, sharing best practices in design, testing, observability, and integration to help raise the team's bar.

What you need to bring

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in SaaS or product engineering environments, including ownership of production services.
  • Solid understanding of application scalability — building and operating high-throughput, integration-heavy systems, and reasoning about performance and data correctness under load.
  • Hands-on experience with our core application stack: modern Angular (Angular 2+ with TypeScript) and Node.js/JavaScript/TypeScript services for event-driven, real-time applications, with solid experience across both relational (for example, MySQL or Postgres) and NoSQL datastores (for example, DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Redis).
  • Strong experience with event-driven and microservice-based architectures and integration patterns (for example, RESTful and service-to-service APIs, message queues and pub/sub, idempotency, ordering, dead-letter handling, and reconciliation), ideally on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating workloads on AWS (for example, ECS Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, ElastiCache/Redis, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, and CloudWatch), including troubleshooting production issues using metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Strong foundation in production-grade engineering practices — automated testing, CI/CD, secure development, observability, and incident response — and comfort carrying on-call for a live product while working within enterprise architecture standards.
  • Some exposure to application modernization and re-platforming — for example, contributing to a migration across languages or frameworks.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools in your daily workflow.

Bonus points

  • Experience with PHP and object-oriented server-side development (ideally with Phalcon or similar high-performance frameworks).
  • Strong, practical experience with observability tooling such as Datadog, Grafana, and CloudWatch (or similar) — instrumenting services, defining meaningful dashboards and alerts, and using them to drive incident response and ongoing reliability improvements.
  • Ability to quickly develop a solid understanding of the tech stack and API Contracts.
  • Experience operating and hardening multi-tenant SaaS systems on AWS with both serverless (Lambda) and containerized (ECS Fargate) workloads, including improving test suites, deployment practices, and release safety (for example, reducing test runtime, eliminating flaky tests, or introducing canary/blue–green deployments).
  • Direct experience with Phalcon or another C-extension-based PHP framework.
  • Experience building against FMS or other third-party integration and abstraction layers (for example, normalized APIs, shared-services, or platform layers).
  • Experience integrating with third-party communications platforms (for example, Twilio) for voice, SMS, or email.
  • Background modernizing or migrating a legacy application (for example, framework or major-version upgrades) with minimal disruption.
  • Background in payments, collections, billing, or other high-integrity domains.
  • Familiarity with self-storage, property management, or CRM/contact-center software domains.
