Responsibilities
Directing, coaching, and motivating underground development teams, including supervisors, engineers, and other personnel.
Overseeing the planning, design, and execution of underground development projects, including shaft sinking, tunnel excavation, and infrastructure construction.
Ensuring adherence to all safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices throughout underground development activities.
Managing project budgets, monitoring costs, and implementing cost-saving measures to ensure projects are completed within budget.
Monitoring project progress, preparing regular reports, and analyzing performance to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborating with other departments (e.g., mine planning, operations, engineering) to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Possessing strong technical knowledge and skills in underground mining, including mine development techniques, geotechnical principles, and engineering practices.
Identifying opportunities for process improvement and innovation to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity in underground development.
Ensuring compliance with industry codes of practice and standards, as well as environmental and community relations policies.
Qualification requirements
A degree in Mining Engineering
Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
Experience and Competencies needed
At least five (10) years’ experience in underground development Management role.
Experience and knowledge on development operations.
Experience in multiple mining regions, and mining methodologies.
Knowledge and understanding of reading Mining plans and ability to follow specifications.
