About the role
Lifeblood's Strategic Transformation & Readiness team is strengthening its capability across strategy, transformation and delivery to help Lifeblood optimise today and build for tomorrow - exploring new opportunities and creating lasting value for Lifeblood and the communities we serve.
As our Product Owner – AI & Intelligent Systems, you’ll sit at the intersection of product delivery and technical execution. You’ll work closely with the Product Lead to turn strategic direction into clear, prioritised work; helping the squad build the right things, in the right order, with the right level of evidence behind each decision.
This role is about making AI opportunities real. You’ll help progress ideas through the Exploration Framework; from discovery and problem definition through to testing, validation and recommendations. You’ll also support early opportunity framing, helping the team assess what’s feasible, valuable and worth progressing.
You don’t need to be an engineer, but you do need to be technically fluent enough to work confidently with engineers, architects, data specialists and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the squad backlog in partnership with the Product Lead
- Translate strategic direction and discovery insights into clear, actionable briefs
- Prioritise work based on value, feasibility, risk, user evidence and business need
- Drive day-to-day delivery across active AI and intelligent systems initiatives
- Track progress, manage dependencies, remove blockers and maintain momentum
- Work closely with engineers, architects, ICT partners and data specialists to scope and iterate solutions
- Support discovery, testing, validation and UAT activities
- Assess emerging opportunities across product, technical, operational, regulatory and strategic considerations
- Document evidence, findings, trade-offs and recommendations to support go/no-go decisions
- Bridge technical and non-technical conversations so stakeholders can make informed decisions
Sound interesting? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or similar in technology delivery
- Strong backlog management and prioritisation capability
- Technical fluency across AI and data systems, including an understanding of data pipelines, prompt engineering, AI/ML basics and cloud-based delivery environments
- Experience delivering AI, machine learning or intelligent automation products is highly desirable
- Experience working closely with engineers, architects, data scientists or technical delivery teams
- Ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and delivery priorities
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity for different audiences
- Experience supporting discovery, validation, UAT and evidence-based decision making
- Confidence working in ambiguity where the problem is still being shaped
