SummaryJob Description:The Department of Health Professions is seeking to hire a qualified adjunct faculty candidate to teach one or more classes in the Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness major. Adjunct faculty are expected to instruct students in a classroom setting, providing support and guidance, and evaluating the completion of learning outcomes.
Outcome:
Teach Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness courses such as REC 101 Recreation and Leisure in Modern Society, REC 205 Foundations of Outdoor Leadership, REC 200 Foundations of Therapeutic Recreation & Wellness, REC 230 Connecting Leisure, Health and Wellness, REC 305 Adventure Program Leadership, REC 450 Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness Administration, or REC 491 Seminar in Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness. Examples of duties
- Plan educational sessions (lectures, experiential learning, in-class assignments, etc.) for each week based on course objectives
- Design assessments (quizzes, exams, projects, papers, etc.) to measure student learning based on course objectives
- Attends class weekly, adhering to the college calendar for the semester
- Evaluates and provides feedback to students in a timely manner
- Keeps the Associate Dean informed of all issues and concerns.
- Meets deadlines for submitting grades and other required documentation for the course/program/department
- Master’s degree required
- At least one degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, or related field
- Prior teaching experience at the college level is preferred
- Expertise and experience working in the therapeutic recreation, community recreation, outdoor recreation, wellness management, or similar field required
